Plantations of Mulberry trees in the region of Xayabury, Laos as well as the region of Chang Rai, Thailand. Gamoltip Mulburry harvests the bark and collects harvest from a series of small farmers who grow mulberry in the respective regions. The fiber of the inner bark is used for high quality handcrafted paper. Drying and sorting process takes place in the Gamoltip factory. Pressed and baled material is sold to buyers who process the material by boiling it and producing the paper.
The challenge was to develop a business strategy, whereby the R.O.I. for additional manufacturing processes is researched and implemented within the company. Subsequently buyers in Europe were identified and contracted to procure the more valuable semi-finished product.
