AMEC plc.

With the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989, UK based AMEC plc. (Engineering & Construction) decided to secure a position in Germany. The assignment consisted of identifying and researching companies in the Eastern part of Germany as well as Czechoslovakia to be acquired by three of AMEC’s divisions: 1) Construction, 2) Watson Steel and 3) CV Buchan (Prefab concrete). Meetings were held with Treuhandanstalt Berlin, extensive travel ensued in the countries, visiting and executing due diligence of suitable candidates which lead to the acquisition of Gebr. Kittelberger GmbH in Kaiserslautern and expanding it with divisions in various regions of Germany.
